Arvind Makwana, Proprietor of Raj Plumbing, is known for luxurious bathroom fitting expertise in Mumbai. The firm was built in 1991 and has become known for its ideas for luxurious bathrooms.
Q.How you started your career?
A.I started with gaining some practical knowledge of plumbing work under my cousin brother for approximately 2 years. Then as Contractor started to take some minor projects by hiring labours and supervising them for the work.
Q.Why did you chose plumbing?
A.Thing was, my father is a civil contractor but i didn’t wanted to work in the same field and thought for the most crucial thing required in a house. Plumbing is a field which has no less value then interior design in a house. Water is the amenity of day to day life use, so i started the work to make a perfect plumbing firm.
Q.How did you got chance to work for Bollywood Celebrities?
A.My first work for a Bollywood celebrity was for film actor Imran Hashmi and i was suggested to him by Arch. Parag Pandya with whom this firm has been working more than 12 years now, the work was appreciated by Imran Hashmi. Then my second work was for film producer & director Mukesh Bhatt and was suggested by Arch. Parag Pandya only.
Q.Which things adds lavishness & luxury to bathroom?
A.Lavishness and luxury look depends on the materials like Italian marble, Onyx, Veneer, Alabaster, etc. and products like fully automatic WC, Designer Wash Basin, Rain shower, Couple Shower, Jacuzzi Bathtub, etc.
Q.Changes in plumbing industry over the past 10-15 years?
A.Things have changed a lot now, for example Jaquar’s bib cock were available at a price of around 1000-2000 and diverters around 3000 rupees, but now in today’s market after 10-15 years 3 lacs, 4 lacs, 7 lacs luxurious products are available. Jaquar was the only company in bathroom fitting then but now-a-days Hansgrohe, Smanni, Bocchi, Ivii(Bali), Duravit, Grohe, Fantini, Kohler, Villeroy and Boch are the top most bathroom fittings. Working style has changed a lot too, we used to work in GI pipe fitting which was time consuming and now we work in Kitec, CPVC, Viega PEX, Viega Copper, Viega SS are the fittings used. These are the easy installation products with no maintenance and complaints. GI fittings were liable to rust and maintenance were mandatory.
Q.Future goal of Raj Plumbing?
A.My future goal for firm would be seeing it as number one firm in plumbing industry, remain no. one in this competitive market and achieve awards for my work. I Want to construct the most luxurious bathrooms in India as well as expand my work in other countries.
